Touch of the Highlands

The Hermitage, Dunkeld & the Highlands

If you want to experience the majesty Highlands of Scotland, but only have a limited amount of time to spare, then try our 'Touch of the Highlands' Tour. This is a beautiful, relaxed tour, perfect for those who want to take it easy, stroll through the Scottish countryside and get a feel for the grandeur of our high country.

The tour starts a little later than most, so this is also a great tour for anyone who needs a bit of lie-in in the morning (you are on holiday, after all). Once we get going, our first stop is South Queensferry, where you can take a snap of one of the most-photographed bridges in the world: the railway bridge across the Firth of Forth.

Our next point of call is the Hermitage - a beautiful National Trust site that lies on the banks of the River Braan. This is a perfect spot for a leafy walk through stunning countryside and a chance to see Ossian's Hall, a Victorian folly built to honour the immortal bard of the Gaels.

Lunch is at Dunkeld, on the banks of the Tay. Take a look at its beautiful cathedral and you'll be transported back in time to when Dunkeld was a pocket-sized city and centre of Scottish Christianity. We next drive up into the Sma' Glen and all of a sudden you will know you have arrived in the Highlands as the countryside takes on a much more imposing character. This is the true essence of Scotland, it's rich landscape steeped in history, beauty and wildlife - it's a really special moment when we arrive.

On the way home, we'll stop in the bustling market town of Crieff and you'll be able to roam around and enjoy its characterful shops and cafes before you board the bus again to head home. Then, relaxed and recharged, you'll be able to say that you really have experienced the Highlands of Scotland.
