You'll depart Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh or largest city, Glasgow and begin the journey north. Our route to Skye takes you via Loch Lomond via the Trossachs National Park. We'll stop in a picturesque village, where you can relax over a cup of coffee or explore at your leisure.?You’ll get stunning views of the UK’s largest expanse of freshwater, Loch Lomond. Your driver-guide will tell you the history and theories behind the "The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond" song as you enjoy the stunning scenery of this area.
As you continue further north into the Scottish Highlands you'll watch in awe as the landscape becomes more and more dramatic. Glen Coe is one of the most incredible places in Scotland. Learn the brutal story of the MacDonald Clan massacre and take in the weeping waterfalls that inhabit this incredible glen.
This highland town of Fort William marks the end of Scotland’s oldest and most popular long-distance walks, The West Highland Way. Here, you can take in views of Ben Nevis, the UK's tallest peak. Standing at 1,345 metres above sea level, it is often known to both locals and visitors as simply "the Ben".
As we near the coast, we pass Eilean Donan Castle*. Here you have the chance to take photographs and see the castle that featured in the film Highlander. It's stunning location, perched on its own little island overlooking the Isle of Skye, means it's hard to get a bad shot of this castle. It's often chosen as the feature for many shortbread tins and Scottish calendars. After a day of exploring it's now time to cross the Skye bridge to the Isle, our final resting stop of the day.
This was an absolutely amazing tour and we could not recommend enough, even when the current times meant it was slightly different to what we had initially intended at the time of booking. The days were jam packed and made us really feel like we got the most out of the time on the tour and made it good value for money. Mark was so lovely and knowledgeable and really made the trip for us. He made everyone feel welcome and the stories along the way were much enjoyed. Our accommodation was with Christine who we left a positive review in her visitor book - she made us feel so welcome and did the best that she could to accommodate us in the current times. In short, we really cannot recommend this tour, accomodation and the overall experience enough. Thank you.
I was on tour all the way up in the Highlands the day the US travel ban was announced, and needed to adjust my travel plans ASAP. Rory went out of his way to help me get situated, and helped me out big time. Thanks Rory, and sorry this review came so late!
