Our Green Pledge

Real Change. Real Impact.

At Highland Experience Tours, we believe Scotland’s beauty is a privilege and it’s our responsibility to protect it. Ancient landscapes, iconic wildlife, and the communities we visit all deserve our care. We’re committed to responsible travel that leaves a positive impact.

Our Green Pledge is practical and transparent. It reflects the values of our team, our travellers, and the country we call home. We do not chase buzzwords or make claims we cannot stand behind. We focus on thoughtful decisions, measurable impact, and continual improvement, doing what we can, honestly and responsibly.

Smarter Travel for a Smaller Footprint

Flexible group sizes, more efficient travel

Our modern fleet (all under 2 years old) includes fuel-efficient Euro 6 vehicles from 8 to 59 seats, so we always match the bus to the group, cutting emissions and fuel use.

Our guides are trained to drive efficiently and our routes are planned with sustainability and community impact in mind, avoiding overcrowded spots, supporting local stops, and keeping travel smarter.

Treading Lightly, Travelling Responsibly

Small actions, big difference

We’re committed to low-impact travel on tour and behind the scenes:

  • Leave No Trace: Guides promote respectful, eco-friendly travel
  • Less Plastic: No single-use plastics, refillable bottles encouraged
  • Team Action: Staff take part in clean-ups and conservation
  • Waste Aware: Reducing waste across tours and offices

Every step helps protect Scotland’s wild beauty.

  • Choose group tours over individual car hire
  • Add a tree to our grove when booking your tour
  • Support the causes you care about (we’ll show you how)
  • Travel with respect for nature, history, and people

Supporting Scotland’s People

Tourism with heart

We do not just tour Scotland. We are part of it. That is why we support organisations working on the front lines, protecting wild places, supporting communities, and helping people when it matters most.

Giving Back to the Land

We’re growing our own Highland forest

We are proud partners of Trees for Life, a Scottish charity restoring the ancient Caledonian Forest. Through our Highland Experience Tree Grove, we support long term rewilding that helps native woodlands recover, supports biodiversity, and strengthens climate resilience in the Highlands we love.

Make-A-Wish UK

Creating once-in-a-lifetime tours for children with critical illnesses

We proudly support Make A Wish UK, helping create personalised journeys to Scotland for children with critical illnesses and their families. From riding the Jacobite Steam Train to exploring Highland castles, these trips are filled with care, joy, and unforgettable memories.

Scottish Mountain Rescue

Supporting those who keep Scotland safe

Scotland’s landscapes are breathtaking and unforgiving. We support Scottish Mountain Rescue, a volunteer led organisation whose teams save lives across the Highlands. Their knowledge, bravery, and commitment help keep Scotland open and accessible to all who explore it.

Cancer Research UK

Standing with those affected by cancer

Cancer has touched many of us personally. We support Cancer Research UK in funding life saving research and improving outcomes for people across the UK. Through fundraising and awareness, we stand with those affected with compassion, solidarity, and hope.

Glencoe Mountain Rescue

Protecting one of Scotland’s most iconic landscapes

Glencoe is one of Scotland’s most dramatic and heavily visited areas and one of its most challenging. We support Glencoe Mountain Rescue, whose volunteers respond in all conditions to protect walkers, climbers, and local communities alike. Their work is vital to the safety and sustainability of this extraordinary place.
