Our tour follows in the footsteps of Claire & Jamie, letting you explore the historic locations where Outlander was filmed and immerse yourself in the places which inspired their unforgettable love story.
The ship that never sailed, standing in for Fort William
You may know it as Castle Leoch
Walk the historic battlefield
See the Bruce Fountain where Jamie's ghost appears to Claire
15th Century castle, better known as Lallybroch
Our second day begins with a visit to Clava Cairns, approximately 4,000 years old, these are one of Scotland's more impressive sights as you can get up close to the standing stones and burial chambers. These cairns are the real-life version of Craigh Na Dun, and the inspiration for the novel.
We didnt get a chance to visit Faukland due to terrible trafic but Greg our driver was the sweetest. Thks
There was no tour guide only a tour driver very disappointed not at all what was portrayed on the website when making initial payment. Too little time at each site very rushed and no time to eat a lunch - very disappointing all round -but sites are great if only had time to enjoy them
This was a wonderful tour really assisted by the dedication and enthusiasm of our guide, Paul. The special effort he took to accommodate all of our needs on this trip was impressive and we had a great time listening to him chat and tell stories about everything we saw. The tour itinerary was well-planned and took us to a good mix of interesting places included in Outlander. Doune was especially interesting and we could have spent easily twice the time there - which is key when this is one of the only tours we saw that includes a stop there! As with most tours, there never seems to be enough time at the bigger attractions, but that's the price we pay for seeing so much. My only criticism of the itinerary would be that it is frustrating as a tourist to get close enough to Linlithgow palace to glimpse it through the trees without at least getting to stop for a photo. If things could be re-shuffled enough to make that even a five minute stop it would be an asset.
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and want to thank all the staff that i spoke to at your offices in Edinburgh who were polite, friendly and efficient. I visited the places that were on my 'tick' list and more and it was done at a good pace without hassle. I personally found the itinerary good but I gave 4 stars instead of 5 as we made a lot of whistle stops on the first day and I can think of friends who would have struggled with so many (but then maybe that is why I travel alone. ha ha) I would recommend this trip to Outlander fans for photo opportunities and small group tours can be fun especially if the driver is amiable and we had Daniel who looked out for us and gave information in an easy manner which I liked. Thanks Daniel. The trip has given me a taster for places that I might want to visit again for longer and an awareness of the geography and distances. Many thanks Highland Experience. I hope to travel with you again.
The breakfast at the B&B in Inverness (Aye Stay) was disappointing - but they had only been in business for 2 weeks. Choices were minima, as was the quantity, and there were no hot offerings. However, Rob Hall is the BEST guide I have ever encountered, and I would book again with him, in an instant. We were a small group (only 5 women), and he catered to our needs by scheduling impromptu photo stops, in several locations that we would have missed entirely, with another guide. He kept us laughing, and my fingers were sore from attempting to capture all the tidbits of information he provided. In fact, I would have loved to capture his commentary via video, because he provided so much information, I was unable to take it all in. I would recommend your company, this particular tour, and Rob Hall - in a heartbeat, to anyone interested in seeing Scotland at its finest. In fact - I would gladly tour with Rob again, wherever the journey was to take us.
