Best Gin Experiences in Edinburgh

We know when you hear Scotland the first drink you probably think of is whisky, but we make quite a lot of gin as well! According to the Scottish Gin Society, there are over 90 gin distilleries in Scotland. We’ve gathered what we think are the best gin experiences you can find in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Gin

You will most likely see this in every bar in Edinburgh, and for good reason. They have a variety of flavoured gins and gin liqueurs that go well with fruity cocktails! Their distillery is just off Princes Street, so very central in town. They offer gin tastings and gin distillery tours! I would make sure to book in advance to guarantee a spot, as they can get quite busy!

Pickering’s Gin

Pickering Gin is another popular gin experience, located in Summerhall which is close to The Meadows if you fancy a picnic after your gin experience! They have a variety of tours including one with a cocktail and cheese pairing. They also offer tours in French.

Holyrood Distillery

If you’re already going to see Holyrood Palace, why not stop by the distillery nearby? Holyrood Distillery has both whisky and gin. You have the option to do a combined whisky and gin tour. If you’re only looking for gin, they do offer gin tours as well. They also offer a self-guided tasting where you choose a flight from the spirits they have on offer.

The Jolly Botanist

So, this one isn’t a distillery, but they have a large collection of gins. Their menu features gins from all over the world and even suggests the best tonic pairing for each gin as well as the suggested garnish. They also have a variety of classic gin cocktails to choose from.

Heads and Tails

‘Not easily noticed, not easily forgotten’ is this bar’s slogan, and they’re not wrong. Heads and Tails have a wide range of gins to offer. They also have gin flights for you to try a selection of Edinburgh’s gins, and even have cocktail flights of martinis and negronis!

If you only have a short time here, we recommend going to at least one of these gin experiences! Even if you’re not too big of a gin fan, the tours offer some cool history and have cocktail options.
