Departing Inverness
This adventure is filled with myths, monsters, and movie magic. Glenfinnan Viaduct (as seen in Harry Potter) is a star attraction, but you’ll also witness the legendary Loch Ness and the dramatic Great Glen.
Urquhart Castle: Ruins Steeped In History
Travel along the banks of Loch Ness, Scotland’s second-largest loch. Hear the tales of Nessie, the elusive Loch Ness Monster, and see if you can spot her!
We’ll stop for a photo opportunity at Urquhart Castle, perched dramatically on the shore and steeped in centuries of Highland history.
Invermoriston – The Inspiration for Peter Pan
Continuing along Loch Ness, we reach Invermoriston, where the River Moriston meets the loch. See the old stone bridge and Summer House, said to have inspired “Neverland” in JM Barrie’s Peter Pan.
Travel Through the Great Glen – Discover Scotland’s Lochs and Mountains
Journey southwest through the Great Glen, a geological fault line cutting across Scotland. Enjoy breathtaking views of lochs and mountains before we stop for lunch at the glen’s base.
Glenfinnan – Relive the Movie Magic of the Hogwarts Express
Arriving at Glenfinnan, you’ll see the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct (featured in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), and the Glenfinnan Monument, where Bonnie Prince Charlie began the 1745 Jacobite Rising.
Follow nearby trails for perfect views of the viaduct and watch for the Jacobite Steam Train crossing (seasonal from 7 April to 24 October 2025).
Stroll down to Loch Shiel and stand where history was made in 1745 — and where movie magic lives on.
(*Train viewing is not guaranteed due to seasonal operations and external scheduling.)
Fort Augustus – Where Loch Ness Meets Highland Charm
Our afternoon stop is Fort Augustus, a postcard-perfect village at the loch’s southern tip. Take in sweeping views, enjoy local eateries, and visit the Caledonian Canal Centre. Watch boats pass through the canal locks and learn about the engineering marvel of Neptune’s Staircase.
Journey Back to Inverness
We return to Inverness via the scenic south road along Loch Ness. Following General Wade’s historic military road, this route offers uninterrupted views, Highland charm, and memorable photo stops before arriving back in the city after a day full of stories, scenery, and magic.
