Wave goodbye to Inverness as we cross over the Kessock Bridge, first opened in 1982. With a total length of 1,056 metres and central span of 240 metres, it is an impressive bridge. The bridge has been well designed, being raised high enough above the Beauly Firth to allow for ships to easily reach the Inverness docks. From here, the first stop of the day will be the lovely Hamlet oh Achnasheen, perched beside the River Bran, for a short comfort break. This quaint little village is home to only 28 people and for hundreds of years has been at an important junction in the town, the section of the main road from Inverness, that splits in two. From here, we'll continue our journey to the west coast of Scotland.
very busy day, seen and learned a lot! Our guide Malcolm shared a lot of background info and was very helpfull with everything. time at the castle was short but as you want to see as much as possible very understanding. vehicle was good, only thing is that the leg space is limited for tall people and the bus was completely full so there was no room to switch seats. overall a wonderfull Highland Expercience! Big thanks to Malcolm!!
Vicki did a great job. Lots of fun facts, wry humor and good pacing of stops and riding. Spectacular scenery on Skye. Glad I went. I think I would have enjoyed the stop at Eileen Castle more if I just stayed outdoors. It was a beautiful day and Indont like being herded in a claustrophobic area with hundreds of others. Couldn’t appreciate it.
Because of roadworks had to go a different route out and so spent time at the castle inthe morning. Malcolm very kindly dropped me at the youth hostel as I have a mobility problem .
Malcolm is a fantastic guide! Really took the time to show us everything.
